Moral and psychological characteristics of personality in the system of determinants in modern crime

Background. Based on knowledge about the determinants of crime, it is possible to ensure an effective fight against criminally punishable socially dangerous acts, namely: to anticipate changes occurring in the structure of crime, to determine and implement the necessary set of measures aimed at preventing criminal attacks. The above emphasizes the relevance of the study. The purpose of the work is to determine the role of moral and psy-chological characteristics of the individual in the mechanism of determination of modern crime. Materials and methods. The article used doctrinal sources on the problem under study and the results of sociological surveys of convicts. The methodological basis was the universal dialectical method of cognition. Also, when preparing the article, the following methods were implemented: logical, formal legal, expert assessments, questioning. Results. The study revealed the main causes of modern crime. Conclusion. It is concluded that the moral and psychological characteristics of the criminal’s personality are the dominant de-terminants of the commission of crimes.
